As everyone sits at home during the global pandemic, there are a few ways to keep busy. Server and bartender Lejla Mandzukic is from Sterling Heights, Michigan and loves making margaritas. “Since the bars are closed and there’s nothing else to do, we might as well learn to make drinks and become our own bartenders,” Mandzukic said. She described a couple ways of making margaritas at the comfort of her home.
For this exercise I decided to use my iPhone 8. I figured it has good enough quality as far as video. The subjects I used were my mom and my dog, and then just some general landscape shots. My biggest issue with this was that I couldn’t avoid being shaky while filming. Unfortunately, I don’t have a tripod to use so I used my pop socket that’s attached to my phone and did my best to have my phone lean against something to avoid the shakiness.

Life has changed a lot over the past month for my family and other families across the nation. As Michigan is placed on a three week lockdown, my mother, Jasminka Salimovic, is able to work from home. My father, Omer Salimovic, stays home as much as possible but must continue work as a truck driver. My 85-year-old grandmother, Suada Talic, lives with us and struggles with Alzheimers. My sister, Adna Salimovic, is a nurse for Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to see her due to the quarantine. Adna is currently waiting for her test results for the virus after getting sick at work.

For this exercise, I decided to take a photo of my mom, Jasminka Salimovic. She was able to take a break from working at home to let me take a few headshots of her. She’s lucky enough to be able to work from home during the chaos going on in the world, unlike others. I decided to angle her next to a grey wall in our house to get a nice composed shot of her.
